Polar Bear, Polar Bear {Book Companion with Freebie}

Thanks for such great positive feedback from my The Mitten Companion packet! I heard your requests for more packets like that one, so today I am bringing your a companion for Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?


Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? is a 59 page companion pack for the Bill Martin Jr/Eric Carle book. 


Here's a peek at what is in the packet! 

The packet is appropriate for children preschool - first grade. With ideas and activities for low tech AAC, comprehension, retelling, sequencing, vocabulary, and phonological awareness. 



Sequencing: Cut and glue to complete the story sequence.


Comprehension: Answer reading comprehension questions in WH and Yes/No format.

Bingo: Play bingo to work on a variety of speech and language objectives (examples provided.)


 Basic Concepts: Use the cards to have students identify/name basic spatial concepts. 
 


Category Sorting: Sort the animals from the story into the given category sorting mats. 



Felt Board/Puppet Cutouts: Make story pieces for retell. Add popsicle sticks to make puppets. Add velcro to the back of each picture to make them felt board pieces. Print either small or large pictures depending on your needs.

 Adapted Circle Idea: Use low-tech AAC devices to target sound discrimination and allow minimally verbal students to participate during circle time. Sentence Strips: Use the sentence strips to increase expressive language and articulation. 



Phonological Awareness: Counting syllables and initial sound worksheets. Answer sheet included for independent work. 


 Game Board: Use the game board as a reinforcer for any learning activity.
