Winter Expressive and Receptive Language

Wanted to show you a few quick downloads I added to TPT before the big Cyber Monday and bonus Tuesday sales. 

Winter Receptive Language is 45 pages of receptive language activities. 



Penguins: Answering WH Questions




78 Question Cards, 6 special cards, 4 cue cards. Students play the game by drawing the penguin cards. Each contains an question. The student needs to answer the question to keep the card. Watch out for hiding penguins who will try to sneak away with your cards!




Ski Trip: Following Directions  36 task cards, 6 special cards, 1 page student mats: one step directions, conditional directions, two step before/after directions. Print all cards and enough ski vans for each student. Students draw direction cards. If they complete the task correctly, they place it on their van to go to the mountain. Many of the directions should just be acted out. 



Hot Chocolate: Comprehension 30 story cards, 6 special cards, 5 task cards
Print all fork task cards. Print 2 copies of the special cards. Print one set of marshmallow cardsOn each turn, have the students draw one task card. This will determine which skill to target (main idea, prediction, recalling details, character, setting). Have the student draw a marshmallow card. Read the paragraph to the student and have them answer.


Arctic Animals: Sequencing

18 sequencing cards, 6 special cards. Students draw a sequencing card. Read the 4 steps and determine the correct order. If you answer correctly, keep the card on your igloo. If they draw a special card, take an extra turn or put all cards back, as determined by the card.

Blanks are included for each game to expand and make the game personalized.

Ski Kids: Asking Questions. Students play the game by drawing the kid cards. Each contains an answer. The student needs to develop an appropriate question to match that answer. If they answer correctly the students keep their kids. Watch out for special cards!

Comparing & Contrasting: When students draw a card, have them describe how the two items are the same and how they are different. 24 cards, one visual aid page


 Arctic Animals: Retelling Familiar Sequences. Students pull a sequencing card. Read the card and identify the steps to complete the sequence. 24 cards

Multiple Meaning Words. Have student draw a card and give two meanings for the given word. If they answer correctly the students keep their card and place it on their mug. 27 Word Cards
